Volunteer Pen Pal Project
Hi, all.
I know of at least two 90-year-olds living on their own who are self-isolating. During this crisis, they are having zero contact with others: no visits from family, no socializing with friends, no sanity-saving trips to the grocery story.
I’m sure there are others like them.
Here’s where you can help.
1) Volunteer to write a letter (or more).
If you’d like to spend a few minutes writing a letter, I’ll give you a name and some basic biographical info for someone in total isolation because of COVID-19. You mail the letter to me, and I forward it to the recipient. If they choose to write back, I’ll forward the letter to you, or, if you give permission, I’ll give them your address so they can write directly to you.
2) Have letters sent to a friend or family member.
Do you know anyone in isolation who would like to be the recipient of some letters? Send me an email at amy@thestoryscribe.com and I’ll add them to the list.
If you’re old enough to remember when letters were the original form of “social media,” you’ll remember what a pleasure it is to receive one in the mail. Let’s connect to those who need connection most.
